Published byJack under North Korea

Before I begin this posting, I would like to give my thoughts and prayers to the families, friends and colleagues of the detained American journalists who are going to stand trial in the DPRK Thursday.
I hope they come out of this safe and sound. I cannot begin to imagine the sheer horror they must feel [...]

Before I begin, it has been quite a while since I last made a post. I would like to apologize for this, as my life has been very hectic and going upside down. In the meantime, I have some time to sit on my hands wondering what is going to happen next, so I would [...]

One of the bigger stories hitting the wires is the increasing worry of another Taepo Dong-2 missile test. The DPRK claims it is for peaceful purposes, but understandably, some do not believe this story. Satellite or [...]

Published byJack under Human Rights

While Kim Hyun Hee’s reassurances give hope, it is still a rumor. There is really no way to verify Yaeko [...]

North Korea election watch (update 2)

Published byJack under North Korea

Update 2: Kim Jong Un was not named to any important posts as far as I know. After all that buildup, nothing. Although t does not mean he could have been place somewhere, I really doubt anything will come of it.
I am not going to make any big deal of it any longer until [...]

Hunger the cause for Kim's defiance?

Published byJack under North Korea

(Hat tip: Ally) According to this article, part of North Korea’s hostile stance could be stemming from the food instability. While I agree it is a large part of North Korea’s serious ongoing problem, I will venture a guess the leadership can care less about the population. The regime is all about survival. Hence, I [...]
